and yesterday...

spent not quite as long as 8hrs on a picture for my friend Ryan Sands' 'Electric Ant' zine, issue 2 subtitled These Bloody Moments. I based my pic on a trailer I saw for a pretty awful-looking gorefest, very loosely based... can you guess what it is? You'll have to pick up the issue to find out.... ! Should be out this September - will keep you posted.
Here's the sketch.... also - check out the impressive list of talent for issue 2 here

today...

got down to some haaard work and made a picture for an exciting venture with the ICA.
finally finished painting it, after about 8hrs! here's the sketch

art?

This Saturday 4th July, to celebrate independence and domestication, I will be presenting a video at The Wall Gallery in Highbury+Islington, along with a little sculpture. What kind of video you say? .... It's a video that takes place in my gut (seriously). Am currently burning it now. The show is on 2 - 6pm and curated by Joby Williamson and Edward Fornieles, with work by people like me and Hestia Peppé and ...more. What's the sculpture you say? well....

woop! guitars!

Last year my friend, Sean Tierney, and I hatched out a deal between us.
He wanted me to paint up a guitar for him (or was it other way round?).
I said I'd do it if he made one for me also. Being the guitar master that he is, he said yes.
A while ago he emailed me some updates on the body prep, and today I got this -
a black one for him. Am excited to start this...
A very good reason to be heading back to HK at the end of August!

(though I've never painted on a guitar body... anyone have any tips??)

oh yeh -

my badges arrived the other day....!
These'll be on sale very soon! drop me an email if you're interested in them
(oh let me know which one, the one with the tongue is called "BagFace", the coloured one is called "LogFace")
They're about 2 x the size of a 'normal' badge (57mm diameter)
Hope you like them!

but all the little details are taking a while.
i think i'll be making this into a nice A2 poster, run 25, for the summer show.
good idea?

(i think i got another day left of working on this....)

Friday, 29 May 2009

wow, i think 19 days

is the longest i've gone without putting anything up here. Being in UK's been busy...

Things that've been happening:
1 - working on pieces for London show@ Tenderpixel (see details here )
2 - designing products for London show (tshirts+bags)
3 - something that may be happening with Vice... still in development
4 - making Fall/Winter 09 Season visuals for Hong Kong department store LCX

and... playing a few gigs here and there as well as some long awaited catching up with friends!

Things should kick off again on here soon once the exhibition is nearing it's private view date along with website update etc etc

Will post more info/details soooooon!

Happy sunny days

after a crazy week/weekend in London

I'm back home and trying to adapt to my new working space/methods, can't wait
to settle into a 'proper' studio instead of running about all the time.
here's my makeshift lightbox, ingredients: old picture frame, tin foil, desk lamp, old trunk.
work on this has been slow, the glass keeps getting too hot and i think it'll crack!
may have to invest in some perspex...

Thursday, 30 April 2009

phew!! just in time (as usual) now to pack....

" Dead Cow "
This will be the first in a few pics on dead animals....`

last day here tomorrow

...so pushing to finish a picture tonight to leave tomorrow free for cleaning the house and the completely dog-wrecked garden. There'll be lots of raking... not packed a thing yet. Not looking forward to it either, don't want to leave here though my mind is always on London and the stuff I got to do there. Fast forward please.

Been reading more about this schweine flu business... hope our flight to UK doesn't get canceled. Last weekend I was mysteriously ill with aches and sick and bad belly :( but i doubt the lil piggies would've made their way all the way out to the middle of nowhere so quick. (will look out for any Mexicans...)

better get back to work

phu! a stinky toxic fun day

This morning I helped the local media company do a photoshoot for their new compilation CD.
We drove out to the dump for ideas .... we were looking for speakers to begin with but then dug out all the props necessary for an impromptu living room - 2 sofa chairs, a ukele, a tv, a table, a satellite dish (!) a few rugs and a couple of car doors (for novelty) etc AND!! there was a complete dead dog!! it was awesome. (will post pics when/if i get them cleared to go). we set up the shoot just on the other side of the fence where the air was less toxic and the fumes from the dump fires were blowing the other way. It was great - I wish I was an art director all the time.
